Why not consider Volunteering with us here at Mac House ? There are many ways you can help. This might include sharing your experience, skills or just ‘getting stuck in.’
Volunteering with us can be very helpful in many ways, from adding to your CV to enhancing your leisure time. Volunteering is fun and very satisfying, but more than that, different people can get so much from Volunteering with Mac House and there are so many ways to get involved.
Maybe you are retired or work part time and would like to donate some of your time and your skills. Perhaps you are a student and want to add tangible work experience to your CV through volunteering. You might have a professional background and can help our management team in a number of ways.
You could be someone who wants to pitch in around the daily life at Mac House and help our families in a very direct way from being part of our once weekly family meal evening, or helping us with our “Waffle Friday” in the family lounge. Or how about assisting in the task of keeping our family garden well maintained and a lovely place for kids and their parents to take a break and relax in one of our famous hot summers?
Volunteers are an integral part of everything we do here at Mac House, without you nothing much can happen, fewer families can stay with us, and things would be much harder for them when they do. Everyone can Volunteer with us, any age from 16 and from all walks of life with very different life experience.
To give you some idea of how Volunteers can help us here’s a list of just a few of very varied ways Volunteers have helped us recently and these continue to be areas where we need your support.
Getting involved with other volunteers in a big garden makeover and /or donating some time to keeping the garden tidy on a regular basis
Painting and decorating of our bedrooms and public areas which makes a massive difference to the House
Collecting with us at local venues, counting cash raised from collections and preparing it for banking, sourcing, and organising bucket style collections for Mac House in supermarkets, toy stores, pavement collections locally etc
Delivering and emptying collecting boxes from your local area shops, pubs, clubs, and helping us source new places for our collecting boxes
Help setting up and being involved in running some of our fundraising activities or events
Speaking to Groups and Associations, school assemblies etc about the work of Mac House – we provide the guest speaker training / awareness sessions and all the information you need
Keeping our noticeboards up to date and informative
Advising the House management team on some marketing & publicity activities
Helping our families with the task of ironing in our laundry, a hugely appreciated bit of support when you need to spend time at your child’s bedside
There really are a lot of ways you can Volunteer with us, and possibly some you might suggest yourselves. If you feel that volunteering at Mac House is for you, drop us a line via email or phone for more information.
And as if all this doesn’t help persuade you to join with us in making a massive difference for our families and their kids then read here just why your support matters and how through the funds you raise and the assistance you give, a child’s recovery from serious, often life threatening illness, can be made a lot easier and more comfortable…
