Thanks to Jodie Williams for sharing her #MacHouse family story.
“First, I have to say thank you to Ronald McDonald House Alder Hey – without them, I wouldn’t be able to by my little girl’s side for the first ten months of her life
I had Lola at 31 weeks into the pregnancy, back in 2016, in a hospital I didn’t know. At this point, we didn’t know Lola had a lot of conditions. We were brought to Alder Hey, where Lola spent seven months on ICU. There are no beds for parents on ICU, and because we live a good few hours away from the hospital, we were so grateful to be offered a room at Mac House.
It was touch and go for Lola, and staying at Mac House allowed us to be close by in case we had a call in the middle of the night. Staff looked after me, and made sure I was eating and looking after myself. Lola finally got sent to our local hospital in 2017, but we still use Mac House when she is admitted back into Alder Hey. Her condition is so rare that there will be many more operations in the future. We are grateful that Mac House allowed us to be close by when we needed it most.”
